The Power of Focus

"I don't spend time wondering what might be next; I just focus on trying to savor every day." — Trisha Yearwood

Have you ever woken up in the morning feeling already tired? Before you attribute it to sickness, let me tell you — it happens mostly because your mind was burdened with endless thoughts all night. His Facebook post, her tweets, that WhatsApp message, tomorrow's meeting, Saturday's party. How could you not be tired?

When you are going to sleep, clear your mind of all thoughts and focus only on rest. Apply this approach to everything you do — focus only on the present work, put all other thoughts on mute. You will feel less tired and lighter, and thus become faster.

Focusing on the present does not mean losing sight of your goals.

If your goal is to travel the world, you would allocate days to each country and start from one. While you are in one country, focus completely on being there — but keep your goal in the rearview mirror so you know when to move on.

How to focus: - Always see your glass as half full, not half empty - Appreciate what you have; don't whine about what you don't - Remove all distractions - Focus on one thing at a time - Schedule your work and set deadlines for long-term goals - Set your priorities and focus only on them - Be determined and completely dedicated to what you are doing right now

And whenever you feel your mind is becoming a trash bin of unnecessary thoughts — take the imaginary broom of determination and sweep your mind clear.

"The direction of your focus is the direction your life will move. Let yourself move toward what is good, valuable, strong and true." — Ralph Marston
