Do you remember Monica from the popular sitcom FRIENDS? That freakishly organized lady. We all have at least one such person in our circles — they can tell the difference even if you have moved a cup an inch away from its usual spot.
But what I personally admire about such people is that they exactly know what thing is at what place and when exactly they are supposed to do what. They are sorted and scheduled always.
So why not become organized? Not annoyingly organized — just the right amount.
The First Mantra: "First things first and first time right" Don't do things haphazardly — do what is required exactly when it is required. Set your priorities, do things according to their urgency and importance, starting with the most urgent and most important work.
Imagine your boss gives you two presentations. One for a very important client, one for a regular employee meet. You start with the employee meet presentation and create a beautiful one — but now you have only an hour left for the client presentation. The clients were not impressed and your company lost the deal. Doing the wrong thing first made everything wrong.
The Second Mantra: "A place for everything, everything at its place" There is always a right place for everything. How weird would it be if there was a shower in your living room? Similarly everything in our life has to be kept at its right place. Make it a point today — create a place for everything and keep everything at its right place.
The Third Mantra: "A time for everything and everything at its time" Nature created day and night to teach us that there is a time for everything — the day to work, the night to rest. Whether it is your meals, exercise, office work, family time, phone, social media, waking up, or sleep — everything has to be done at its proper time.
Being organized is not difficult; all you need is some effort. A small effort from your side is going to save you an enormous amount of time and energy.
